Botswana is an ideal destination for safari enthusiasts due to the fact that most of its population is concentrated in the eastern side of the country leaving large tracts of wilderness available for adventurers to explore. Botswana is a land of stark contrasts and the landscape ranges from bush savannas, wetlands in the Okavango Delta, deserts in the Kalahari and salt pans in the Makgadikgadi. The Government of Botswana is also very dedicated to conservation and has set aside a total of 37% of the total national territory as wildlife protected areas. 17% of this protected land mass is divided between seven National Parks and Game Reserves these being; The Chobe National Park, The Moremi Game Reserve, The Nxai Pan National Park, The Makgadikgadi National Park, The Central Kalahari Game Reserve, Khutse Game Reserve and The Kalahari Transfrontier Park. The remaining 22% of the remaining land mass reserved for wildlife is in the form of Wildlife Management Areas which act as buffer zones around national parks and migration corridors between wildlife areas.
