There are few direct flights coming to Botswana from southern Africa. The easiest and safest way getting in by flight is connecting from O.R Tambo airport in Johannesburg. There are also flights that will take you from Cape Town and Windhoek (Namibia). International flights reach Sir Seretse Khama Airport in Gaborone or Maun International Airport. Tourists prefer Maun International Airport since it is closer to the Okavango Delta. Once you here, getting to your safari destination is easy as hopping on an air shuttle service or a safari vehicle. Tour operator usually collect you from the airport. Further transportation is usually arranged as part of your safari-package
Botswana’s major domestic flights are operated by Air Botswana. Small charter planes are used to travel between destinations such as parks and camps in the Okavango Delta. These chatter flights are usually booked though tour operators at your convenience.
If you are not keen on flying or running on a budget, there are several road entry points into Botswana. If your trip starts in Victoria falls you can drive-in though Kazungula boarder near Kasane. We also have schedule tours and guided transfers from Johannesburg, Victoria falls and Windhoek. Be advised not to drive after dark since animal crossings are frequent and some would be very hard to see.
For your entry needs, please refer to our Visa’s and passports section.
